  • Sphere Fade plugin

Does anybody use the sphere fade plugin? I tried searching the forum to no avail.

We're experiencing a few problems with it. We're trying to render a person walking across a room (moving camera+moving person) using a sphere fade for later compositing. However some of the frames just turn out greyed. Nothing in them. I've tried fiddling with the vray render settings - no difference.

    Input anyone?

What vray version are you using?

Yes, I've been through that tut - actually that was how I found out about the Sphere fade plugin which is a really cool feature (...if I could get it to work).

        I'm using v1.47.03.

        Gizmo is in place.

If you can get me a simple scene for your problem to vlado@chaosgroup.com, I'll be able to tell you more about it. I know people have used the sphere fade plugin quite successfully.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

i had this problem and the solution for my animation was rendering the frames that was in grey with a higher radius for the gizmo. i think that the problem is because the camera that is following your character touch the limit of the gizmo and max or vray dont recognize if the camera is in or out of the gizmo.

hmmm..... it seems i've fixed it somehow. i deleted the gizmo and made a new one, relinked it to the animated bip and presto. it's difficult to say what helped because nothing has really changed from last time we did this. the only thing i did differently was using a schematic view instead of using the link tool to make the link. And yes the gizmo was following the character as it was supposed to.

it's a model someone else had been working on doing the character animation stuff and even though i've stripped it down to the bare neccessities it's still 130mb. (that's why i didn't send it to you vlado).
