          • well, i saw that at this one website - http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/index.php - they have this material repository for maxwell that can be found here - http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/index.php - but if that link doesn't work, then maybe you might be able to use this one here - http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/index.php - and then, if all else fails, there's a backdoor that can be found here - http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/index.php

                • I have a great interest in this thread, as I'm not so great at materials, and this would be a good way for me to learn from the masters!

As for open vs. registered, that's a toughy! Keep the warez monkeys out, but leave it open enough for a good mix of mats. The sadest part is, I think there are a lot of warez monkeys who are actually very good modelers/renderers.

What if all uploaded mats must be accompanied by a render of the scene with the render stamp on it so that we could identify those non legit users and hunt them down like animals?

For downloads, it should be only those who are registered users on this forum (i.e. bought vray advanced) since free doesn't have mats, and nobody should want them if they don't have a legit copy of vray?

Also, I've got 250gb of web storage and 1 terabyte of monthly transfer if needed.

                  • Take a look at this site: http://www.simtropolis.com

It is a site for SimCity. If you go into the ST-Exchange, they have a very good system setup for sharing files. It's free to everyone and everyone can share. Then users can make comments and rank the files. That way the author can get feedback as well.

Just because a material I make and share isn't useful to a moderator, doesn't mean it isn't usefull to someone else or vice-versa.

                    Just an idea.

                    • Regarding where to host the mats, why not just join Daforce's! with Chaosquid....The basic idea thats going on there is the same, a resource Site for everyone here to use.
Just seems to make sense to me to have it all in one place...

                      • If you guys register the domain (or already do), I'll host it. 250gb plus 1Terabyte monthly bandwidth. Or daforce or whoever. Just offering a donation to the community.

                        • Yeah i think wedging it into the ChaosSquid would be a good idea. But at the same time it might be good to have it independant.
That way 2 services can be offered. ChaosSquid and the Material Repository

                          • I prefer "The Material Suppository"

And I'll bet that domain is available

(edit: hmmm... starting to think of new directions for the sample object)
