Anyone spent any time refining the parameters for a good AO pass? Thought I'd ask before I get into testing it.

    Thanks

that's a toughy. It depends on your scene really. I don't know what the parameters are like with new new builds, I just used the dirtmap compiled from the sdk.

I usually just start with a radius of 35, and then adjust from there. I frequently use the dirtmap to supply alot of GI like shading, as opposed to just trying for the minor details. Since its added in post, there's alot you can do with it.

Cool thanks Percy, sounds about right. I did some quick testing and liked it at a radius of 36 and defaults on everything else except 12 on the subs.

Also use a little falloff just to smooth a little.

You have to ask for it, but you'll get the better dirt with 1.5 anyways.
