  • Render elements...

After setting the path for the render element to be saved, do I have to also check "split render elements" in the vray frame buffer rollout ? If so
so I need to assign another path in that rollout ?

you can use that to split out when using vrimg...to save out renderelements simply click the enabled checkbox in the element's option (should also work when all are selected...then names are autoassigned.

actually you DO NOT specify path of render element in the render elements rollout. You leave that blank. Instead you specify output path in vray frame buffer rollout.

yes, as vlado explained to me, the settings in the render elements are mostly ignored, like not vray related things such as paths for example.
Once you specify output in vray frame buffer, and check split render elements button, you do not need to check save frame sequence in the common tab in max, you can leave that blank. Then when you submit animation max will say that you are sending a render to the network without saving the frames, its safe to say ok, as vray will write its own files.
