  • VRay Dome Light and Background

    Dear Group

Is it possible to use a VRay dome light (with HDRI map) in conjuction with a separate background environment? In essence, I would like for the VRay dome light to provide a strong direct light (with shadows) with a separate hdri environment for diffuse GI and ambience.

    Thanks,

    Marcus

Due to the nature of HDRI you could make it yourself.

Its not clear what youre trying to achieve, you maybe able to get the same result a number of ways.

just use the "overide max environment" for the HDR that you want for the GI and use a dome light for you direct "hard" shadows.
Just becareful as the HDR will produce soft GI type shadows as well, if you made your own HDR with a dark sky and a bright sun this would reduce the GI type shadow from the dome light.

But whats the point really? just use a max light instead of an HDR for the hard shadows
