  • Dual Booting

We have a couple of dual processor machines running XP64 but most other software doesn't run on this operating system so, I was wondering about installing XP32 and booting into this to use the other programs.

Has anyone done this ? Is it advisable ?

The main priority of the machines is for VRay rendering and don't want to compromise this.

    Thanks

i had 32bit installed, and created an additional partition for x64. Then i simply booted from the xp64bit cd and installed it. all the dual boot selector etc was installed and set up automatically. worked flawlessly. Just needs to be on it's own partition.

Did you create the extra partition on the C: Drive (System drive) ?

I have tried this and cannot get the option in the Disk Management box to create a new partition.

i used partition magic to create the new partition. DiskManagment only supports creating partitions in unused space if i recall right. Partition magic also allows to resize and move existing partitions.
