  • AE 32bit workflow question.

    What project settings do you use when working with 32bit EXR's in after effects?

    depth = 32bit
    working space = sRGB (?)
    Linear Blending = unticked (?)
    Import/Output 32bpc formats as linear light = ticked(?)

    I'm trying to work out the best way to work with the unclamped g-buffer from vray (along with the LWF). Any suggestions?

    sure: use a proper comping software which handles floating point imagery natively and throughout the tool pipe.

        You need to be working in a linear workspace in After Effects.

        Download the linear profiles from here:

          Thanks for the suggestions guys..... Fusion would be great, but I don't have a spare 5k lying around

          Thanks for the link to that tutorial, that looks to be the right way to go.
          I still need to stick an exposure effect on the layer to clear the bleaching, but the colours seem alot closer to what I desire.

            you might end up spending a wee bit less buying an apple with intel chips, and a copy of Shake, which these days seems to be as expensive as crisps packets...

                my best guess is he already owns a pc and after effects and would own a mac with shake or whatever other programs were suggested in this post if he had the funding for it. would have been easier to say "i dont know how to do it in after effects"

                    You seem to miss a crucial point in the previous post: An application with management of FP imagery THROUGHOUT the pipeline.
                    Meaning AE is WAY short than that, for basic AND advanced usage.
                    Saying "i don't know" or "i know" It'd have been like giving him a hand with one bucket, where the boat has waves crashing into it.
                    There was NO fun intended in the post, for once...
