  • Why is the LC Building so different?

Sometime the Light Cache in my scene only needs 10 minutes to complete. Then a few frames further it needs more then 2 hours to complete the light chache. Is there something wrong ? Its not even a huge change in the camera angle nor is any complex geometry appearing!

    really strange

    thx for any help.

      thx

Would it be sufficient if i send you a small part of the file, so u can see the the settings, the animation and materials. The complete file with the hdri might take 100mb.

How large can an attachment be to your email?

      thx for the help

PS: Btw does the problem might have something to do with an animated visibility spinner?

I am preparing a file right now!

If your lightcache scale is set to 'world' this might be the problem.... but I assume your using 'screen' scale .

                  @ k-arts

Can you point me some frame numbers which one would render normally quick and another - slow.

                  Best regards,

I am doing the LC for the "bad" frames you pointed 139 and 163 just as all the rest ( quick enough ).

Btw, do you have the speed difference in the LC calculation phase or you are refering to the final render-out time ? As the chart you showed says something else.

                      Best regards,

                        LC

When rendering the image it seem to me that there is no time difference. The image i am rendering right now (f 159) gives me an estimate of almost 8 hours and is already running 6:30 hours. so it seems to be only the LC buildup to take that long. Just bought 2 new machines just in case, thats why i took me so long to reply

                        thx for the help

                          Checking the f 159 right now !
                          LC - calc - 1:17 min

                          Best regards,

I had this problem recently, as well...I generated my LC and IM calcs separately, saved the solutions down and used backburner to render my frames. The first sequence completed without issue, but on some rare occasions, I'd have the same problem you're having now. I never could figure this out either, and since I was too much under the gun, never got a chance to post the question, sorry. It was my first vray animation, too, so I wasn't entirely sure it couldn't just be attributed to user error

In the end, I just dropped my machine from backburner and rendered the frame independently. I had to recalculate the GI for those frames because the saved solutions just weren't working.

Can't wait to see what you find out.
