  • image sampler 1.5 change?

maybe it's just me. I don't have 1.47 installed anymore, but was wondering if someone could test this. This scene I'm working on just Really seems slower since I changed to 1.5 The color threshold for Adaptive subdivision seems to be the culprit.

Maybe I did something wrong somewhere else, but I can't find it. Can someone check to see if their times change with that as well?

If it's a 1.47 scene then the thresholds are overkill for 1.5 - apparently the rqmc sampler is a lot more efficient so you can use almost a fifth of your previous settings. It might be worth changing to the scanline then to vray to reset all of the parameters to their defaults and see if the speed comes back.

I keep on reading about changes on rqmc, but as soon as i get the thresholds up to 0.01, noise appears. I end up lowering it again to 0.004 which used to be my usual value for animations. Maybe that's the point, animations won't look noise-free with a value of 0.01 either on image sampling and on rqmc, whereas stills will look pretty ok.
