  • Scaling VRay Proxy's?

    Afternoon All,

Just wondering if it's acceptable to scale VRay proxies?

I've instanced a lot of trees from 1 proxy and have been scaling them a bit so they are not all exactly the same.

I've also noticed that when I create a proxy it places it pivot point at 0,0,0 absolute - and then I move it back to the centre of the object.
Does this negate any of the benefits of using a proxy?

    Thanks

No problems in scaling a proxy at all - the pivot is placed at 0,0,0 on creation of a proxy - personally I'd prefer to have it at the center of the object but it's not a problem to change and again won't cause a problem.

You must select "export as multiplie meshes" option if you want to keep the pivot of the proxy object when it is exported.

      Best regards,

Is there any new way of creating and using proxies now with 1.5??

I haven't used it in about a year and I just had a stcky note about typing the "dovraymeshexport()" to make the proxy but I have forgotten how to import that proxy back in?? Or should it make a proxy from the mesh you selected?? I remember it had like a ghosted image and changed the name, which didn't happen when I tried it. Any help is appreciated. sorry for the hi-jack but I'm stumped here! Thanks again.

          Regards Peter.

This is also off topic....but, can you put a noise modifier on a vray proxy
and animate the noise ? Just curious.

Can some one simply tell me how to make the proxy in the first place?? It is greatly appreciated. Deadlines deadlines. Thanks again.

just have your mesh selected, right click and choose 'vray mesh export' from the quad menu. If it aint in the menu, add it.
