  • getting light to pass through glass

I'm doing an interior scence and when I put the glass in the scene I'm having trouble getting the light to pass through. Here's two seperate images one is a rendering with the glass (it's darker) and one without, (it's lighter). Even though the glass is not shown in theis view I need it because I will have a view looking the opposite direction.

What I want is the GI light to pass through to the interior scence through the glass

here a brief on the settings of my glass:
    diffuse: black
    refelct: white
    reflect gloss: 1.0, ferenl: 3.0
    subdiv: 30
    refraction: white (pure)
    ior 1.001
    max depth: 5
    checked: use interp
    cheched: affect shadows
    checked affect alpha
    translucency: nonce
    duoble sided
    reflect on back side

    gi is multiplied to 30
theres a vray sphere light in scene but it should not be hitting the interior due to the high eaves. it is set to 15

Raise your max depth to 20 on both refract and reflect and see if that does the trick. IOR should be about 1.517 for standard glass. Also, if the glass is very critical makes sure its a modeled box with depth - try 1/4 inch for most panes.

On Render menu, Vray Indirect illimunation roll out

      GI caustics>> check refractive

another solution select Glass object and go to vray prop. uncheck Visible to GI

I'd take the glass out of the GI calculation (under VRay properties)
          show me the money!!
