    Me again

Is it possible to have clipping planes on vrayphysicalcameras? I need to 'cut' through a wall if you see what I mean.
    Kind Regards,

You can use the slice-Modifier and animate its slice-plane.

I suppose slice is an option, but it is quite longwinded. There are lots of different objects which would need to be sliced through - walls/plaster/skirting/fixtures and fittings/furniture etc. This is also one shot out of about 25 so I really don't want to start slicing a load of geometry just for one shot if possible - its another thing to remember to switch off when crunch time comes at rendertime!

By your answer, I guess clipping is not possible.

I don't know if clipping is possible.
I can't remember seeing this option though ...

If you want to slice through many objects you can instance the modifier.

but you are right about the "crunch render time forgetting of switching things off"

Couldnt you just select all the mesh and the drop a slice plane onto it? Instead of doing it one by one.

That'll give you incorrect results with gi though since you may be removing a wall that would otherwise bounce light around - you may get a weird flicker if the slice plane is animated to gradually reveal a wall as the camera moves past it...

                true true.

It would work ok with a pre-calced Gi solution tho wouldnt it?

                  has anything come of this?

i think clipping planes would be a good addition to the vray camera - i needed to use clipping planes today, and have had to redo my lighting (only very slightly though) and use max cameras to get around it.

I could have added a slice plane to all geometry, pre-calculated GI etc. etc. but on a 2 million+ poly scene, it would have taken to f**k ages, and i've got a tight, tight deadline.....

anyone know what's the plan with clipping planes for Vray Cameras?

Clipping planes for the physical camera have been added to RC4.

                    Best regards,

oh... we need RC4 so much right now...
