hi there, im trying to render a huge image ( 8000x6000 pixels) and i always use a vrimg format for this jobs, i want to have a vrayshadow render element in that resolution but when i open the vrimg it doesnt store this render element. im trying to render it with the split render channels but in that case the maxs shoutdown because is out of memory that is the reason because i use the vrimg format. is there a way to store the render elements in the vrimg format? or how can i found another way to have this render element in that resolution?

The .vrimg file stores all render elements; however if you need to extract them you need to use the vrimg2exr converter. It allows you to take any channel from the .vrimg file and write to an .exr file. The vrimg2exr converter is included with the V-Ray RC2 and RC3 installations.

Thanks vlado,,, i use the vrimg2exr converter and the renders elements are in the final image.. thank you soo much for your help.
And for the themaxxer question the way to use the vrimg2exr in DOS is the next one: ( for DOS inexperts.)
Put your vrimg image in the folder that are installed the tools of vray,, in my case the folder is located in C:\Progam files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\3dsmax R8 for x86\tools
if you are using the vray 1.5RC3 or RC2 go to the program files, vray folder, tools and launch vrimg to openEXR converter. after that you will see a DOS window....
In DOS write the following command:
vrimg2exr NAMEOFYOURFILE.vrimg NAMEOFYOURNEWFILE..exr
Your new exr file will be in the same folder,, in my case C:\Progam files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\3dsmax R8 for x86\tools
open the exr file in photoshop CS2... you can see the vrimg2exr converter options writing in the dos window only the next command vrimg2exr . after that you will see in the dos window the differents options to convert the vrimg images to openEXR images.... i hope this can help. have a nice day.
