Im trying to create waves similar to what you see here. Non of the processes that are covered in Dreamscape or any other thing Ive seen including max wave or ripple seem to be able to produce this well spaced wave pattern with distinct acute angled wave faces. Im not so worried about the shore break since Im going to try and miss anthing actually breaking in the animation. Any ideas anyone ?????

Heres a quick and dirty example. Take a look at it and you should be able to see my approach. There is a box that is hidden which is working with the volume select mod which links the selection to a dummy object through a linked x-form mod. The dummy controls the shape of the wave face.....the box object controls the amount of the wave that gets selected.
Keep in mind that this is only conceptual and not to scale....let me know if you need any more clarification.

Maybe make a displacement map with lines where you want the displacement, then animate the UVmap in the direction you want the waves to travel?

Thanks to the the both of youYes, but is it Art ???

Try putting a FFD mod with the same number of lattice points as the number of waves....then you can adjust them in sub-object mode to the wave locations....then you can push and pull the waves to whatever distance apart you like while maintaing the animation stack below. Oh and if you use the material that i assigned(might be too simple)...put an unwrap uvw map mod under the FFD mod to lock the texture to the surface.
Hope this gets you there.....-----Dwayne D. Ellis-----
