  • URGENT- Proxy back to mesh

Does anyone have a script that converts proxies back to mesh?

This may or may not have been the case, but my computer was experiencing extreme slowdowns with lots of proxy instances in my scenes. This (*edit* meaning the mesh convertor) was one of three things I removed and Max is back to normal now.

Yeah, proxies aren't too optimized for viewport performance; will get to that at some point.

Vlado - with 64 are we better off using non-proxies for now in a heavy scene?

of course. the sole reason for using proxies is to lower memory usage at render time. Assuming memory is now no longer a problem then it would be best to not use proxies as it would render faster. However if you still only have say 2gb ram then proxies may still be a good option to keep the renders memory usage below the point where it starts paging to disk, as this may well be slower then proxies.

Well thats what I think anyway
