  • Perspective viewport and photometric lights

    hi dear fellows,

everytime i put more than 4 numbers of photometric lights in the scene,
my perspective viewport becomes very bright-white, can't see
any previews. anybody know how to solve this problem?

    thanks in advance.

In your viewport right click perspective (or wathever view you are) choose configure.

In the dialog check default lighting and choose 2 lights

    That works for me..

        Ctrl+L toggles different viewport lightschemes

this might be a long shot, but I was having problems with lighting display in my viewports and called Discreet. They said that past a certain number of lights in a scene and most video cards would not behave correctly. They had me restart max in software mode and the problem was fixed....not exactly what you have, but worth a try...good luck

I checked it in max, and yes with IES lights the viewport is behaving strange.

What I tought - toggle lightschemes - works well with standard lights.

But because you said it didn't work, I checked it again with IES lights. I found that it fixed the problem most of the times, but after a view sec. or turning the object around, it's overbright again.

As voltron7 says, it's probably a graphic card issue.

Ive got the same thing at home and in work, I just assumed it was the nature of photometric lights that meant max couldnt display them properly.

edit: And it happened in my old job too. Same thing on an atifireGL, gefore fx5700, and a 6800gs.
