I was wondering if this was "okay" to do.
I have a 1000 frame animation. I send the GI pass of every 15 frames (IRR and LC calculations) to the fastest server in the farm. When the GI pass is about half-done, I send the regular full render job to the rest of the farm. The full render job is using the IRR and LC files that are being created by the fast server (the GI pass server). As long as the main full render does not "catch up" to the GI pass server -- and is always rendering frames that have already been covered by the GI pass... will this result in a proper rendering?
Is there any disadvantage to letting the other servers have access to an IRR and LC file that is incomplete?
