  • distributed baking?

first I would like to say how valuable this forum has been to me as I make my way thru vray, so thanks!

I have a relatively complex scene that I need to bake (render to texture).
I am using GI w/ light cache for faster rendering times (GI quality is not such an issue at this point) and rendering frames on 2 nodes using DR.

Is there a way of using DR to bake textures?
Is there an optimal vray renderer setup for baking?

    thanks again!

I don't think it will work with DR at this point, but you can probably render different objects on different machines to speed up the process.

A good setup for baking would be more or less the same as for a normal rendering.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

I never seem to get good clean results with IRR-map when baking... maybe Im doing something wrong... dont know. But to get a baked texture without lightleaks, splotches etc I use the "universal settings" QMC + Lightcache. Takes a looong time to bake, but gives great results.

Yeah - qmc is per pixel sampling so it'll be a lot sharper and more accurate in that way.
