What is the best way to break the lines between two elements? I have been seeing some nice images with things like the road and grass transition not being straight. Is this accomplished with texture mapping or modeling? In the below example it seems it is modeling and texture mapping since displacement is being used for the grass. Any tips?

    Here is an example:

Most probably a mix of Blend materials with proper BW maps for mixing.

gotta be post. i never do anything like that if its still image, in 3d. 20% max 80% photoshop. If its gonna be moving, then thats different, then that will be hand painted maps.
