light cache

sometimes when I do a light cache at 2500 subdv. it freezes up towards the end. I noticed n the task mgr the four buket are going 100% and then they drop off and that is when the cache does to go further.
I have a 2.6 quad core chip with 4gb of Ram on xp64.
the preocess takes up only 1.61 of the RAM

When I lower the subdv. it works out ok. Also dif views of the model do better than others.

Why don't you try to tweak the other parameters? In many case the default value, 750 or less work very well , but it needs more tweaking from the other render options.
I'm not sure about trying to catch the good ratio in increasing the lightcache subdiv value.
But just my opinion.
