  • Help: Vray Physical cam does not do Spherical renders?

    Hi,
I apologize if this question has been asked before.

I am trying to render out Panoramic images using the Vray Physical cam and selecting the spherical camera with the FOV overide in the Vray render settings. For some reason it does not work.

A max cam with the exact settings works. Is there some secret to getting it to work with the VrayPhysical camera?

I will have to re-work color and exposure settings if i am to use the standard max cam. Is this something that can be added as a wishlist item for future releases if not possible at the moment.

    I am using Max8 sp3 and Vray 1.5 RC4

    thanks
    Vivek

You can either use the "distortion" parameter of the physical camera, or use a regular camera instead (adjusting the color mapping as necessary for correct exposure).

Hey vlado, what distortion value would give a spherical image?

Well, you can't do a full sphere, but you can get it slightly curved; if you want to use the resulting image as a spherical projection though, you'd need to go with a standard camera.

Thanks Valdo. Can this be a wishlist item for the next release?

ok thanks vlado, would it be possible to make a physical spherical cam model of some sort?

Seems a lot of these issues could be solved by making a vray camera modifier which will add exposure, dof and iso to a camera in max - no doubt it's not a trivial thing to do though?
