  • Status of Vray for maya on OSX

    Vlado we are looking at switching from Max to Maya and running it on mac OSX. Any idea on the time frame of release of the new maya version of Vray for OSX. Also we own one copy of Vray Advanced What would the cost be to switch over to the Mac version. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks Gadzooks

    It is being worked upon as we speak, and I hope it will be available in a matter of days. With that said, there are some restrictions:

    (*) We can only support Maya 8.5 as we have no access to the SDK for older versions;
    (*) Initial support will be only for 32-bit Intel Macs as we don't have any other machines here for testing at the moment (although this is likely to change, if there is significant interest);

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Thanks vlado for taking the time to answer my Question. Thats good news.
      Will we be able to transfer our Max licence to a maya licence?

        If you use the same software license server, you can do that while V-Ray for Maya is in beta period. However once released, V-Ray for Maya will be a separate product requiring a separate license.
