  • reflections not correct

In the image you can see that the ceiling and light are being reflected much to bright in the mirror. I tried using a Vray override material. In the overide-reflection material even if I change the diffuse color to red. Rendering remains unchanged.

Also feel the same is happening with chrome (supposed to be) at shower enclosure

Any advice on how to correct for this?

Thanks for our quick reply. I'm struggling with this and would hope to move past this issue

I have a Vray material on the ceiling. I have the diffuse as all white. The clg appears too dark otherwise. The rest of the settings are default.

I am using one Vray plane light up at the ceiling to light the room. small Vray sphere lights at the light fixtures. Possibly this config is part of my trouble?

Thanks for that kind offer. I archived the file and sent it to you. I got returned, perhaps too large. I just sent the .max file without any maps.

sorted. Just make sure the vray plane and dome lights are not affecting specular

Well thank you for that. It fixes the reflection in the mirror perfectly.

Unfortunately that takes all of the specular hilights out of the scene and makes it too dull. I esp. notice this on the counter top edge and on the chrome faucet sets that I have added at sinks since I sent you the file

There must be another way to achieve this without losing all of the spec. hilights in the rest of the scene.

                  Thanks for taking a look.

put an omni in the scene and have it affect specular only

well the omni set to specular did not work. It seems to have no effect on specular. I tried cranking the multiplier way up, still nada.

                        Thanks again for your help

You migh try adjusting the specular in the material and not turn it off in the light. You have more flexablility that way. Just a thought.

he'll need to turn it off in the light unless he wants the vray light to reflect in the mirror, which it will. I'd like to know the solution you come up with.

I ended up eliminating the V-ray light I had up near the ceiling. I relaced it with one Max omni using V-ray shadows centerd n the room. Turned off affect specular for the V-ray light at the ceiling light fixture.

I'm not sure if this is a good choioce of lighting setup or not. It got me close to what I wanted. The ceiling is reflected well, the light fixture is reflected as not as bright as it should be, but at least not totally blown out

                              Any C& C welcome.
