  • Better solution on window glass for interior scenes?

I usually render out my interior scenes without the window glass and do post work to fake the glass later on. But for animation, it's a lot more work to do that. If I render the interior animation with the window glass on, it will take 10 time longer to render then not having it. Also I have to bump up the sun light as well... Any tips? Anyone? Thanks in advance!

hmmm, something doesn't seem right about that.
What kind of material do you use for the Glass?

Try getting a new Vray Material, make the reflect a value of about 220 and the refract a value of 255. Make sure you have fresnel reflections ticked, and set the Index of Refraction to 1.5173.

I'd suggest also ticking the 'affect shadows' under refract if you are using a GI method like Irradiance map - this isn't 100% physically accurate, but will be very quick and will allow light to pass through the glass.

this always renders very quickly for me, certainly not 10x as long as not having it. Make sure both reflect and refract are also 100% glossy. I.e. a value of 1.0.
