  • fumefx - vrayPhisCam + Vray sun = dark flame

Is it possible without turning on exposure in phis cam to render correctly fumefx flame. When it's off flames is dark like smoke.

I didn't quite understand, is exposure on or off? If it is ON, it is normal that fumefx will render dark; if it is OFF then keep in mind that color mapping (e.g. Reinhard) will also affect the appearance. If fumeFx can output unclamped colors, then it would be best to use it in this way.

i think you will have to do a seperate pass for fume fx fire if your going to use it with the physical camera. Or you can reduce the shutter speed of the physical camera to get the flame the correct brightness

exposure is on (ticked) and then flame is very weak. When playing with standard camera and vray it's okey. I'm uworking in LWF so I'm using gamma cor 2.2

In that case the only thing to do would be to boost the brightness of the fire effect or to render it separately.

Well if your using vraysun, its very bright.. around 380, so the camera has to be setup so that it looks normal , so its "blocking" alot of the light. Thats why your flame looks very dark. If you pumped the flames brightness up like vlado mentioned it should be just fine.

Either that or lower your vraysun MP down so its looks ok in a normal camera then adjust the vraycam to suit. Not ideal tho.

I would prefer to leave cam settings as they are, but I'm not sure how I can bring the brightnes up of the flame in fume? Where I shoudl ook for this brightness setting?

as far as i know there is no way of brightning up flames in fumefx.

only way to brighten them up is to increase the alpha contribution of fire, and the opacity, but this will bleach out any nice detail. any fume stuff I have done has been with scanline and standard lights etc. seems much more controllable, then add it all in post.

its a shame sitni sati works so closely with final render, the FR gi control works well for controlling brightness but sadly vray doesnt recognise the value

Isn't it for GI only? The problem of lukx is that the flame itself is dark... Also, as far as I know, Kresimir has successfully modified fumefx to work with V-Ray as well in this regard, perhaps you can email him for more information.

maybe i will email him, i have tried it on several scenes and no matter what the GI value is it has no effect in vray

Yeah, I don't think this is included officially in fumeFX, I just know that he tried it at one point and it worked.
