i did an animation with a saved irradiance map of that building (plus 3 other buildings, and it took 3-4 minutes a frame to render. the irradiance map took about 6 hours to render though, although it was alot of frames

      Hello Da_elf,

Very good time! what kind of tiles (proxy?), what resolution, did you do irradiance map calculation on every frame? If you don't mind me asking

        Hello DaForce,
        I miissed your post

The way I did is, I made a spline and extruded by 0 thickness, maybe wrong? so no plane involved.

My idea was to do UVW tiling in the model rather to map, because you need different amount of tiling in different segments.

I got 1 map and 1 complimentary displacement for tile, but if you don't mind you can help me with another one

        Regards

Yeah extrude spline should be ok.. all depends on polys so if they are nice and even its ok.

It seems the maps I have only have bump maps which would not be good for displacement well not without some serious PS work.

I can give them to your if your still interested.

Thanks DaForce, I guess this what I got will be good enough. Let me share my source for this, in case you, or other guys need it

Sirkus shared his stuff, thanks to Sirkus.

Yeah as a proper displacement map thats not very good either. If you displace it on a simple plane with no diffuse map you will see it displaces wrongly, mainly because of the shadows.
However it seems to look ok in the render, but i think it would look bad up close without some PS work to remove teh shadows from the disp map.

Yeah, you are right, I think it should be more gradually. I used to have somwhere much better displacement map, and tile itself, but can't remember where I saved...

In swedish (and pictures!), but this is how I did it, simple with a texture and with DisplacementMod.

one of daforce's posts was my post. my tiles were displacement and the procedural maps used to make them are in that link
