  • 32bit and 64bit

I had to install 32 bit, cause there are still issues with bringing in Arch Desktop stuff....Grrrrrrr....anyways.....instead of reinstalling vray....Can I just copy over a folder or something....from the 64 bit directory to the 32 bit one...

    Thanx

nope you will need to reinstall the 32bit version. The 64bit version wont work.

As long as you have your licence server setup, just install vray and point it to your current licence server.

I was just about to post and ask how to do that!!!

So how exactly do you do that.

And when you describe the process, just so I dont miss anything, please pretend that you are talking to a knuckle-dragging, drooling, incompetent ....

        Right... will try my best.

Well when you install Vray RC3, it installs the vray licence server. vrlserver.exe

As long as thats running then any install of vray on that machine should be able to see it and obtain a licence.

Same with installing vray on another machine, you just need to modify the auth info in the render panel to point to the machine that has teh vrlserver on it.

As im not sure what your trying to accomplish im not sure exactly what to go into detail on.

Is this a file linking problem by any chance?

yeah....when you link a desktop dwg with walls...They are suppose to come in name like this

            Wallstylename-componentname

instead...everything comes in A-wall...then I have to set everything up by color and use multiobject materials.....oldschool...LOL....

              Eric -

Our problem is different: we use file linking all the time, but with Max9 64bit, the file linking suddenly stops working. The only way to get it working again is to undo all the recent commands you have done in ADT 2007 until you get back to the last time you saved and it did work! Even if you delete possible problem elements in ADT, the file linking still will not work. Only undoing will work, but obvioulsy this is a complete pain and has meant that we cannot use Max9 64 bit or Vray 64bit: even though we have just bought brand new 64bit workstations for this purpose!

The latest version of ADT (Autodesk Architecture or whatever it is called) is still sat on our desk as it will not even install on a 64bit operating system! (even though ADT2007 did!)

All in all, Autodesk are a bunch of jerks in my opinion. They have caused us many a headache.
              Kind Regards,
              Richard Birket
