  • sand material for particle ?

    Hello friends !

I would like to make a litlte particle test.
For this I would like to use something like a sand material.

But I have no idea how to do this with vray.

Also every suggestions and ideas concerning the particle object mesh and making this test animation are welcome.

    Thx a lot,

    Heya Bernard!

You'll need a fairly simple material for the sand if it's normal uniform sand instead of a mixed colour sand. You'll need a brown material with a soft specular on it - use a low glossiness value and turn off trace reflections for speed. The two most important things though are self shadowing so when the particles build up must have some shading on them, and having millions of tiny particles - to an extent where each of the aren't even a pixel big in your render - it'll he the building up of the particles that make the look work.
