  • orthographic views w/ physcam+sun+sky

I've set up an architectural scene using the vray physical camera with the vray sun+sky system. I'm also following a LWF (.255 method). Everything is working great. Woo hoo! I'm done!.. Not so fast. I was just informed that I will need to produce one exterior elevation view.

If I were using standard cameras I could just tick the orthographic checkbox, but the physical camera doesn't appear to have that option. So unless there is another option I guess I'll have to use the physical camera and adjust it to a 1000mm lens or higher to get a fairly low perspective elevation. Is there another method I should be aware of?

    You might try this:

Put a white 255 plane in place of the ground (or 0.255 white, if so you're set up).
Set up you standard camera, and the orthogonal view.
Render, and colorpick the white plane from the VRay vfb.
Say you get some number around 300 float for the white plane colour.

Simply divide the sun intensity by it (the highest number in the R, G or B float color pick), and you should be set (1/300, for instance).
Get rid of the plane, unhide your scene and render.
IT *should* look between very close and identical to the exposed one.
