  • How do you render occluded objects???

I need to render (to layers) a full background - including the portion of the background falling behind forground objects.

Is it possible to render occluded parts of your scene with Vray or does this require a 3rd party plug?

If so, are there any recomendations.

    Big thanks for all input!

How about rendering a layer where you have the foreground objects hidden?

I was hoping to do it "auto-magically".

well if your background isn't mapped onto geometry, of course itll have selectable through an alpha. If it is, you can set its alpha contribution to-1 in the vray properties, which will again give you a selectable alpha in post.

By your trend of posts Percy it seems you're very attached to -1 alpha contrib.

This post just saved my butt. As ugly as its head might be, 'alpha -1' just saved me a lot of work on something here a mere 17-years later. Thanks Percy...
