looks very big and confusing. Plus, why would you need it? submitting the scenes to backburner would do the job just as well as this tool, without all the knowhow.

ya really not that helpful. Even if you dont have a renderfarm, you can setup backburner to work on just one machine, and you renders wont have to load all the max ui and stuff. A for effort though. Id invite him to post this info here in the forum, but I suspect he can't. haha j/k

          Bloody hell.
I'll prepare a VRayFrabulator that does absolutely nothing, and put it up on sale for 1k USDS.
          See if that works.

why? it doesnt even look like he is using licensed copy. Most likely its not. He wrote a useless tool.

What do you mean? I want it. But I would prefer a LeLe version.

You can batch up a whole nights worth of your LC + IRRs and your final DR - and go home! I just spent a week waiting for calculations and starting DR renders. Can't run a DR via backburner, unless I missed something?

in new vray versions you can run DR in backburner.

As someone posted on cgtalk, there's the max batchrender with max's own render presets (saving out irmap/lc paths and settings, and whatnot).
It works a charm -which is very rare being said of an Adesk piece of software-, I can't see why not using it.

I'll check that out LeLe, but still - that is only 1 max model. I suppose we could set up 1 batch per 1 computer per vray licenses....

Ok. Next issue with this: it is still running Max on the controller computer (Ram usage), and probably doesn't clear the Ram between batch processes (Ram build up issues = very bad), and finally this always a problem: but without a network queue - 1 crash wipes out 12 hrs of render time. I started running everything to strips for a while, for this reason - but then figured out how much extra the strips were doing for AA filter or whatever - and that was costing us hours of render time.

Can you tell me #1 - how to run the damn batch command line file (i never figured out what to do with the .exe ! #2 - make a script that clears the ram between each batch process - or if there is a way - force max to close and reopen between?

Or, I guess I can just wait for the next version of Vray and use BB.....

If you perform a gc() and a freescenebitmaps() between renders, it will free most of the ram used without closing and reopening max.

Yes - are you saying that if I put that in the post-render script box, it will do it during the batch render?

                              indeed.
There was also a script i did ages ago that would perform a gc() and a freescenebitmaps() in between the frames of an animation.
                              Should still be around somewhere...
