  • Opacity maps -- disabling filtering

I've read on a few threads about disabling filtering for Opacity maps and set blur or blur offset (not sure which) to .01 to speed up renders.

What I don't understand is --- if I disable filtering -- then I'm disabling the blur parameters too (since they depend on filtering to work). So what's the point of setting any value at all?

none. setting it to 0.01 and turning it off looks nearly the same, and i guess the difference is really marginal.

Right 0 and .01 and similar -- but what I'm saying is that the instructions I've seen -- say to set filter to None AND set the blur to .01.

      I'm saying this seems contradictory.

Your right it is rather pointless to do both (as I often suggest to do both)

But I usually suggest both just incase someone only does one then it still works fine.

        Its just habit really
