  • Excluding lights from GI solution

    Hey folks,
Ive tried many different search strings for an answer to this question, but have not succeeded in finding a post...

We are creating a night street scene, and we would like the spots from the streetlights (of which there are many) to not add to the GI, and just have the moon light be the contributor to the GI. There is no checkbox or area I can find to exclude the light from GI (such as with Brazil).

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

perfect opportunity for you to render out a separate pass with those lights and gi turned off. Will do what you want and give you more control in post. embrace the passes revolution!!!

Or if you want to do it with Max/VRay calculate and save your irradiance map with the streetlights switched off. Then render from the saved map with the lights turned on...

...yeah the passes are clearly an option, I was just looking for a quick fix that wouldnt force yet another element that had to be isolated for passes.

The Imap idea is great, however we ALWAYS have stuff moving around in our scenes so its pretty much monte carlo till the cows come home...
