  • ERROR CREATING BITMAP

Ive been asked to produce an image thats 11x14 @ 600 dpi......

When I am trying to create an irmap 1/2 size.... I cant even get it to exceed 4000 pixels without a message coming up saying

    "error creating bitmap"

I was able to create one at 3300x2228..... but when I try to double even after loading the irmap...........

    same error.

I am running the 3 gb switch.... This error is coming up immediately after hitting the render button.... and thats it... im at a dead stop.

Do I have any options here? The only thing that comes to mind are rendering in strips.... even though I havent ever done that... it doesnt seem to be anything more than network rendering with options.....

Can someone give me some advice, pitfalls, etc.

    Thanks in advance.

try rendering to the vrayimage format I guess. I haven't had issues with large res, but then I usually send renders 3k or larger to renderstrips on the renderfarm.

Well I get the same issue on my laptop running vista. It only has 2gb ram so I believe that it is simply out of memory and can't even uncompress the images. I am putting xp on it this weekend to see if it will resolve the issue.

I am currently having this issue at an even larger scale . I am late in providing a 32,000 px rendering for a 12 m wide banner (a bit less than 72 dpi). As I discovered last night, BB cannot even strip render that large without running out of memory (it might also have been the IR map calcs). It killed all my render nodes and had to manually restart each one.

My solution was to use the old school blowup region method in the viewport configuration dialog, so as to precisely blowup regions with no overlap. I have to render 25 regions at 6400 px wide each. I am using DR now, but it will still take all day today and probably half tomorrow to finish. And I am using QMC/QMC to avoid huge IR files.
