  • How-to DR using BB?

I thought one of the new features of RC4 (I ask Vlado, don't panic), was to be able to use DR in a backburner rendering.

I tried, checking the DR switch and launching the BB job normally, but the server that got the job rendered using only its local buckets...

    Any ideas?

    thank you

    regards

    Gio

It is not RC4 or RC5 it is in the "1.5" FINAL...no longer a release candidate (RC). Saw it at SIG last week

          working like a charm

setup a normal DR job and send to BB using nodeA
          go node A and edit
          max8
          \plugcfg\vray_dr.cfg
          max9
          C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\3dsmax\9 - 32bit\enu\plugcfg

          add the IP from node B C D ...

start spawner B C D and happy rendering

rendering a still on multiple machines to speed it up.

But with DR only i can do that , why I would need BB? to program several stills in DR?

Since DR used to only work from you workstation and not backburner, you'd have to manually queue up another render once one is finished. With DR working with BB no you could essentially send all of your stills to one server (even your same workstation) and have all of them render with DR one after another. Ideal for overnight renderings. Granted, you probably have to have more machines than you have images to render, otherwise I doubt there's any time savings other than just sending each image to a single machine.

well and you can keep on working locally instead of having your workstation blocked during the rendering...
