    What's your background set to? It should be the debevec's kitchen.hdr.

      yes, it is..

      yes, I do have paul's kitchen hdr used...

      hmm...

      here is the scene file I use, and getting the blue diamonds:

      by the way, i always make a archive file, that includes all the textures, that's a very nice feature in max..

      FILE-->Archive...

      hmmm...well, but I really don't know now what's wrong...
      ok, next I will check rivolis file....

      thx a lot,

        Yeah I got that as well as soon as I moved the dice and rendered it. Kinda weird.

        But didnt have time to look into why it did it.

        Might have some time later to have a look.... hmmm maybe it was the caustics?

          I'm not sure what's going on, the file I download from bernhard renders just fine. Perhaps a 1.5 issue?

          Rivoli: nice image . Looks very convincing especially the die and material

            The 1.5 final renders this scene fine here; I know that some of the RCs (RC4 and RC5) may have problems with it though.

              hmmm..

              we use Vray 1.5 RC 3 ....., may that causes the problem ?

                rivolis scene file

                Hello friends !

                Today I had enough time to test rivolis scene file.
                Well, the result is really amazing, very very nice render.

                The only weakness is the render time I think.
                What do you think about ?

                Maybe DOF in Post ?
                Any suggestions ?

                thx a lot,

                  ok...

                  Hello friends !

                  Ok, new information from the render front.

                  DaForce made a test render with the same scene file, and if I did understand that right, he has Vray Version 1.5 RC5, but the diamonds do have the same issue.... it looks blue, pink and not white.

                  @DaForce:
                  please correct me if I missunderstood....

                  Hmm, so.. I think it can't be anymore a version conflict only, or ?

                  In the scene file is one bitmap file missing, for the scatches, and dlparisi used that one for reflection and bump what I can remember.. hmm, maybe the missing bitmap file causes that problem ?

                  I really can't imagine, but who knows....

                  @dlparisi:
                  maybe you would like to upload for us the image for the scratches, so I can make another test.....

                  would like to fix that problem...

                  thx a lot for all your help,

                    yeah, I see what you mean. turning off dof will definitely help a bit, and maybe the vray blend mat was overkill. you can probably get away with only the base one with adjusted reflections. I guess.

                      thx

                      Hello again, and some news from the render front.

                      Here is the last image I made from dlparisis file, and I tried to fix the dispersion issue:

                      this image was rendered, with a standard glas material, and the diamonds are white. I switched back to your dispersion diamond material, and the purple, blue diamonds were back... hmm... by the way, could you please post me the link to vlados description, conceringing the dispersion material ? Maybe I missed something very important.....

                      @rivoli:
                      I made another test render.

                      Here the list, with the highest priority on render time..

                      a) VrayBlend Material
                      I just used the base, and it helped a lot to shorten the render time

                      b) Caustics
                      c) Bokeh Effect
                      d) DOF

                      I think the Bokeh effect plus DOF can be made in post, but I don't think that there is any equal solution for the caustics....

                      ok, so long so good,
                      the only issue is this strange phenomenon with the purple diamonds using the dispersion material in dlparisis scene file.... maybe we can find the bug...

                      thx a lot,

                          spots in caustic shadows ?

                          Hello friends !

                          Today again I played aroud with our old dice scene and so I rendered a biger one...

                          now, I could see, that I do have white spots in the caustic shadows..
                          look here:

                          Hmmm, it looks like the spots are just in the shadow, because the plane looks very well everywhere else...

                          What do you think guys, which values should be changed to get rid of the white spots and will not extreme increase the render time ?
