Can someone explain how the new modes in the IR engine work and when to use them? I used to use multiframe incremental to save out my IR maps but now I see there are two new ones called Animation (prepass) and Animation (Rendering). So which ones should I use and what are the benifits? I've also read that now you can calculate the IR map over a network, how is this done?

One more question about the Amimation (rendering) mode, I understand that using Animation (prepass) will create a seperate .vrmap for every frame but once I switch to Animation (rendering) mode how do I load all of these maps into it? I can only select 1 .vrmap at a time, there doesen't seem to be a way to select all of them.

Do they need to be merged in the irmap viewer?

V-Ray will locate the sequence of IRMap files, and will know exactly how and when to load them. If you have played with these new features, you should have noticed, that V-Ray sets a sufix after the name you give for the IR map, which is actually a number pointing the frame number of the animation sequence.

I've messed with this feature and it is really great! I notice that when you enable the rendering preset, it has the Intrp frames available. I understand what it does, but what's the advantage/disadvantage of having it interpolate more (or less) than 2 frames forward and back?-Chippy

Edit: never mind I see it, it's just grayed out because I'm using medium-animation. I'm assuming you still set how many nth frames you want to calculate right?

Well I've gotten no where with these new modes, when I calculate the animation (prepass) of every 15th frame I get a series of .vrmap files in my network folder. When I switch the mode to animation (rendering) and pick the first file in the sequence and send the job to Backburner most of my machines say they can't load the IR map, but some do render. The machines that render either aren't reading the IR maps generated by the prepass or the maps that were generated are messed up in some way. I must be stupid because I can't figure out how this thing works for the life of me. Isn't there some kind of help file or tutorial on how this process is supposed to work? Those of you that say you have had success can you please give me and explanation on your process so I can see where I'm going wrong.
