  • Animation path

Again a newbie question...What is the best way to animate a camera? Should I draw a path then have the camera follow? If so....Where is the walkthrough command...LOL...That was in viz and I assume that I have to do it manually in Max. Can I use a vray camera.....Do I set it to movie cam...etc..etc..

    Thanx

Doesnt matter what camera you use, I find that unchecking targeted and animating it manually with keyframes works well.

The different kinds of vray camera are just different ways of displaying numbers (in very laymans terms), if youre not using motion blur/DOF or anything fancy, it doesnt matter what you use.

walkthrough mode default hotkey to enable is the up arrow, or there is a button for it at the bottom right corner underneath the hand, "pan view" button.

While you may find it easier starting out putting your cameras on a path, I would also suggest getting use to doing keyframe animation on them, requires tweaking of curves in editor but ultimately you'll have more control over things.

Key framing done properly looks much better as well, the curve editor is your friend...
Two heads are better than one ...
....but some head is better than none.....

I just did my first walk through, And I tried to use a spline for the path. I did not like it.

I ended up using the curve editor with key frames. It works a lot better IMO. The hardest thing for me to gauge was speed. Speed of the camera moving, and the speeds of rotations.
