  • Flowers displaced ?

    Hello friends !

I could see a lot of good solutions with gras and displacement maps and I use it very often. Today I am looking for something else, but with flowers.

Has someone used something before ?
Hundreds of flowers made with displcament ?

    thx,

Hrm.. have you seen this material on vray-materials.de? I haven't played with it, so I can't say how well it works.

      yeah

Yes and thx for your tip, I hae seen this material.
I think you can use it on one mesh, but I think it's not for the purpose I am looking for... I would like to texture a very huge plane with a lot of flowers...

      hmmm....

paint a map? Shouldn't be too hard to figure out a general flower shape eh?

realtime applications often do this by having a separate plane above the ground with the flowers and an alpha. VRay is lots more efficient though so you might even create a few different polygonal flowers, VRayProxy them and scatter them around.

If youve got any high poly models of flowers, array them around over a ground texture as densly as you can, set your environment light to a uniform mid-white and render it from the top view to get a diffuse and z-depth, for the displacement. it'll need some minor cleaning in photoshop to tile, but it'll work.
You can also got nuts with this and mask out seperate areas within the mesh, so you can have differing glossiness values for leaves/flowers/etc.

well, do you have anywhere seen a lots of flowers rendered ... I mean displaced ?

              would be great to know,
              thx a lot,

I'd go with proxies as stated further up in the thread. That way you can use high poly flowers and Vray will just eat them up with proxies. Onyx Garden is what I use and it has Onyx Flower in it. I think the proxies would be allot quicker to setup too. Just my 2 cents!
