  • reflections shaking badly

    hello all,
i'm having trouble with the reflections jumping or shaking from one frame to another.

anyone know what to do here? the only moving object is the object inside the tube. i'm using hdri for reflections and i've never had the reflections jump around like this before.
    thanks,
    -joe

I think this exact thing has happened once again already and has been posted. I think the solution was to collapse the modifier stack on the models to editable mesh.

still having issues with the reflections. i'm starting to suspect it has more to do with a mixed 32bit/64 bit render farm. does that sound normal? i forget where i read it but i think there is a slight difference in how vray does its thing on 32/64 bit systems. we've been using a 32/64 bit mix for awhile now without any issues. maybe this type of material exaggerates the issue??
here is an example of the problem area. its the same frame but its flashing from 32/64 bit machines:

        and here are my settings:

i'm hoping someone knows of a work around
        thanks,

It is not a problem in the V-Ray settings, but of your geometry changing from frame to frame. Collapsing the object to an editable mesh (NOT editable poly) should help.

            vlado:
i collapsed it all to an editable mesh before i did the flash comparison above. converting to editable mesh did seem to help things out however there seems to be consistent difference when rendered on a mix of 32/64 bit. in other words 32 bit renders it one way consistently and 64 bit renders it another way consistently...with slight differences between the two. i just finished a test of 20 frames rendered on my 64 bit machine and everything is fine.
            thanks,

Ah, ok then. Would it be possible to get the scene so that we can investigate where those differences are coming from (e.g. V-Ray or 3ds Max)?

              Best regards,
              Vlado

i wish i could but its a sensitive project. kind of a catch 22 since i cant send you the scene with the actual objects and i'm not sure i can re-create the issue with different objects.
i'll figure something out. thanks for looking into it.
