There's no GI on an AO pass so there's no need for a irr map. Use marc's great script here... http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpB...ic.php?t=17407 . Makes short work of getting an AO pass.

I must be running low on coffee............ YES. I read that right above........

Let me say WOW - is that an AWESOME SCRIPT.....

I dont think I will ever NOT use this pass.. ITS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

Even just the simple AO pass would be nice for a client to focus on the architecture and not so much on materials......

      Thanks,

and A HUGE THANKS TO plastic_!!!!!!

Guess Im more than 6 months behind the curve... Hell, I still havent implimented the 2.2 gamma. - lol

I usually render AO like this: Make VRayLightMtl and VRayDirt to color slot then put it to material override. Disable Ligths and Global Illumination and hit render. What it doesn't support is displacement on materials but usually I use modifier anyway.

I also use vray dirt pass as quick way to check for coplanar faces and flipped normals. Vray dirt doesn't put up with those shenanigans. Itll output black in those trouble areas.

perceydaman - thanks for the tip!!

Masterbercon - what do you use the vraylightmtl for? Are you assigning them to fake lighting?

the vraylight material just ends up being like a self illuminated material when GI isn't turned on.
