  • Vray use in production...

    Hi Guys and Girls

Just have a one question : do You think Vray is being used mostly for architecture productions or also for some more difficulties issues like special FX ? i mean movies special effects , particles , fluids and general rendering in the pipeline ?

    cheers

I only do visual fx and vray's my main stay, on a bigger scale digital domains commercial division use a hell of a lot of vray, sway and speed shape put everything through vray.

Depending on the particles I might revert back to the scanline for some bits though. Have a look at my reel on www.joconnell.com where most of the stuff is vray.

Good example for VFX with VRay would be CA Scanline. They use VRay a lot for rendering their fluid stuff. See http://www.chaosgroup.com/news/20040604-01.html

      www.flowlines.info

The did shots for 300 and Poseidon. They had a speech at siggraph and the 300 shots were in the electronic theater.

        +1

Same here. Vray is the most flexible renderer for my needs.
I rendered my last and current movie fx shots with it.

I imagine once vray for maya is ready there will be a lot more production use.

Yep,,,that's what i was expected to hear about VFX and Vray here...

joconell - your demoreel is just brilliant

scanline.de - yep this software rocks!!! i contacted them a long time ago asking about possible software purchase/test ...it's looks like it is still an inhouse software unfortunatelly ;-( like Nuke from DD some time ago....

            thanks

we use vray in maya now in production, and have successfully utilized vrays potential for the past 8 month. Of course vray is beta, so there are problems, eventually which will be worked out.
