hidden objects at rendertime

hello,
i'm working on a scene where hidden objects are showing up at rendertime. i'm wondering if this is related to the final release because i've never noticed this before. its like it is ignoring the fact that an object is hidden. has anyone come across this yet? maybe theres a new setting like "render hidden objects"???
