  • Does Gamma Adjustment Degrade Image

    Hi All,

Bizare question,... but does adjusting a floating point images' (eg. open exr) gamma in post degrade the image at all?

A 32-bit floating point image should have no perceptual degradation. You can open such a file, slide the exposure to +10, save, re-open, slide exposure to -10, and it looks identical to the previous settings. I assume the same would hold true for gamma adjustments.

Thanks Clifton, I was really hoping that would be the case.
