  • VRayColor does not respect 3dsmax gamma setting

I can't seem to get the vraycolor to actually be correct with my 3dsmax gamma setting of 2.2. I set "Gamma correction" from "None" to "3dsmax" and it still doesn't appear correct. If I set it to "Specify" and then "2.2" it looks perfect. What gives?

The "3dsMax" option will check what are the 3ds Max gamma options; if 3ds Max gamma is not enabled, the VRayColor texture will not do anything.

If 3ds Max gamma is enabled and is set to already provide gamma correction to material swatches, again the VRayColor texture will not do anything (otherwise it will be correcting the same color twice).

If the 3ds Max gamma is enabled, but is not set to provide correction to material swatches, then the VRayColor map will perform the gamma correction itself.

Has this been changed in the release of v1.5 SP1?

        Nope, I don't think so...
