why does it load maps with maps off?

  • why does it load maps with maps off?

    if you hit the global switches to not use maps, why can you still see maps being loaded in the render progress bar? it seems to be a pointless addition to render time from where i'm standing, or have i missed something?

      yes, we've found that, but unfortunately in our case we can't use that because we need to use at least 2 materials in the scene.

        You are right that it still goes through the loading maps process... will try to see if it can be turned off without any side effects.

            i've often wondered this. we haven't switched to 64-bit yet so it can be an important memory issue.
