  • LUMINA gives their 3D lamp models for free!

    Hello guys,
i'm glad to present you a great italian lamp manufacturer that gives for free his collection of models as stated in the title. Lumina has chosen the most important italian cg portal (www.treddi.com) to offer their models to registered members (registration is free, of course).

Models are in max9 format + vray 1.5, they are complete of cinematics, ies and materials.
We've prepared the whole lumina material library to download (complete of textures).
For any info you can go directly to www.lumina.it and download the catalogue in pdf.
i hope they can be usefull for all.

I'm the project manager, pls feel free to contact me via pm or directly in this thread for any question.

EDIT: i forgot to mention... every monday 8 new models become downloadable, the next one is the forth

Great to have! Thx for the info!

I always wonder why so many leading manufacturers keep their product data away. It is such a cheap, and usually good way of advertising. For example in many projects, where there is no exact specification for the products we have to use, we just use what we can find on the internet to save precious time. We browse trough the catalogues of brands who provide 3D data, and use those models to get some life into our renders. We even had some clients who actually went for the "random" stuff in the end of the interior design process because they got to like the product we just randomly put into to scene.

And sometimes we literally have to beg even for vector 2D plans if our clients want to see a specific model which has no online or printed usable data provided by its manufacturer.

    Best regards,

    A.

Exaclty, i find myself doing exaclty the same as you described. Looking for 3D data to use in our project... Would be really easy and relatively low-cost for every manufacturer acts in the same manner as lumina and make almost free advertisement over the web.

Apparently I already had a bunch of their models. But I can't remember where I got them.

I still downloaded these though. Thanks for the heads-up.

Great Work! this light fixture models are the best i've seen so far - and so are the renderings done to showcase them. looks like a lot of attention and perfection was put into this.

Been playing with some of the lights, and wanted to ask, were these lights calibrated to work with the VRay Physical Camera? What effect will LWF have on the lights?

                Regards

Afaik, the IES profiles were properly measured in real life (Lumina is a maker, not a simple reseller).
As per usual, though, it's the combination of lights AND materials which will have to be exposed through the physcam.
Whichever method you'd need to have it work for you (materials, exposure, lights multipliers), rest assured the ies profiles are correct.

As for the materials setup on the model, Simone has always been good at doing this, so don't expect "evermotion-like" stuff, with 48 glossy subdivs and a general sampling multplier of 3.
Everything's been kept as lean and mean as possible, with an eye out for performance, as well as quality and good looks.
I'm sure he'll be able to confirm this himself.

Exaclty Lele, and you well know what's behind the scene here
Without your scprits would be really hard to accomplish, if they were few models, maybe with much time, but with a collection of more than 80 models...

Interesting to know what scripts did you use here, are they from the public collection available in scriptspot?

Eh no, they were custom made to clean up the scenes so that names of the different parts would match, or to add an arbitrary text to a dialog box like the one you see when OPENING (not merging) the files.
I only did some tiding up work, the real maker of the models, and rigs, is someone else
Daily tread of the mill stuff, which in this case was a life, and stress, saver, for everyone involved.
