  • vrimg file size

does anyone know how to calculate the approximate file size of a vrimg file? i beleive they have no compression, and are 64bit(?) images.

photoshop says a 2000x1200 pixel image at 32bits will be 27megs.

...so if the vrimg files are 64, then they should be 55 megs. ...or are the image 128bit images?

i think i am slightly confusing myself. .....or maybe it is depended on how many render elements i am including, which in this case, i believe is none.

The RGB data is stored as 3 floats per pixel, which is 12 bytes. This is multiplied by the number of stored render elements. So, if you only have RGB and alpha, each pixel takes 2x12=24 bytes. For a 2000 x 1200 image, this is 2000 x 1200 x 24 bytes, or about 55 MB.

    Best regards,
