  • Lighting Noise Problems

    Hi guys,

Was just wondering if anyone had come across this problem before.

I've got a high level of noise and intensity generated from IES lights and in the reflections of my glazing. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what im doing wrong? I'm guessing it has something to do with the exposure settings or colour mapping?

Any help would be appreciated as I'm just going through trial and error schemes at the moment to get rid of it.

    Many thanks

    Giancarlo

Would increasing the subdivs of your lights make a difference?

      thanks for your reply,

been doing more tests and i think it has to do with my exposure settings on my Vray camera. the spots have 700% intensity to achieve a light setup i was happy with.

would make alot more sense to adjust the exposure settings on the camera rather than use ridiculously large multiplier levels on the lights in the scene.

Having the right level of exposure plays a key role in getting the most out of your sampling efficiency. If underexposed, you'll get noisy, if over, you'll end up with higher rendertimes usually for nothing.

And in the end, you might try to lover the noise threshold value under dmc settings.

        Best regards,

        A.

actually it doesnt look like your typical noise. To me it looks like lights are producing overbright samples, and returning incorrect pixels. Try turning on clamping and subpixel mapping and see if that helps.

            yep!
that look like overbright problems to me too!

thanks guys, it certainly was the overbrightness of the vray light that was causing the problems.
i changed the exposure of the camera so i could achieve the right type of lighting with the light being at 100% instead of the ridiculous 700% before

                thanks everyone
