  • showing a forest on a site plan

I have a 3D Site plan with several hundred bldgs and tree and what not... I have several forested area on the plan that I want to show. All of these areas are alreadt polylined in CAD and I could just extrude then up say 40 feet and be done with it. But I am looking for ideas on how to show them better. Any suggestions are helpful.

    Thanx all

Maybe render out some of your 3d trees from a top view and start placing them around the site plan!

      Trees

I would say remove the trucks and branches, just showing the crown. Use Proxies and scatter them. You can do thousands of trees this way without issues.

Dellis...Not quite....But good for my 2D Site ...I have a 3D View of a huge forest area that I am populating. The scene is really just suppose to be a "massing" and all of the homes are really just blocks.....But I always wanted more detail for the forest area. Bobby...I will give that a shot, but I was thinking some sort of bump map or displacement....Thanx

The free version of forest might suit your needs; the paid version will work on terrains.
